What if Bebe Stays with Steven? , K.M. Creamer

What if you stay when you know you should go? Bebe ignores her intuition at her own peril, and the longer she stays, the harder it is to go. When Steven’s threats extend to her family, she finally makes a decision. Will she live to regret it?

What if Bebe Stays with Steven is an interesting, unique, hard-hitting story that is unlike anything I have read in a long time. This story may be fictional but like all great novels it is also important and the story speaks the truth; it is a novel that asks the reader important questions and asks the reader to evaluate their life’s and the relationships around them and for me, it is really important to read these kinds of novels. This novel is not only an entertaining, psychological thriller but it is also an important, thought-provoking novel and I have to say that I loved it! Here is a little bit more about this wonderful novel.

This enchanting novel tells the story of Bebe. Bebe is a lovely but very young, naïve and impressionable young woman and like most young women, Bebe is trying to find her one true love and she will do just about anything to find a man and to keep him. This is where Bebe meets Steven; At first glance, Steven seems like the perfect, loving man but soon our novel turns dark and Steven has some very dark secrets and some very troubling issues which he expresses in dire ways. Bebe is caught in the middle of all of this and she tries desperately to navigate through family troubles as well as Stevens issues and the apparent problems in their tumultuous relationship.

What if Bebe Stays with Steven is a fascinating story and an interesting and important insight into an abusive relationship. As a reader, I think it is important to read novels about issues which are happening today. It is important for writers to write such novels and for awareness to be brought to such matters. This is why I really did adore our author Creamer for doing this. She explored how many women easily slip into a routine of acceptance of not being treated right and how despite the abuse they stay by their partner. I adored her in-depth look into this kind of relationship; it made for compelling reading and I was completely taken by the story. I was compelled because I had to know what would happen to Bebe and how lovely Bebe evolves as a character.

Our author Creamer has done an exceptional job at writing this impeccable piece of literature. I adored her narration style and adored how she added so much detail and character development, not just about Bebe but her extended family also. Creamer has written such a riveting but frightening tale; it is especially frightening because it happens so it scared me and worried me that the actions that took place in this novel are actually happening in the world today.

To conclude my thoughts on this wonderful novel I would say if you love to read hard-hitting novels that grasp you from the very first page then you will adore this book. In my opinion, it is a must read, especially for women as it tells you the warning signs of a domestic relationship and also what takes place in one. It was an eye opening, interesting and gripping read and for that, I have to give this novel Four Stars!

  1. I think this may well be an important read for many women and men – but also one that those who have survived an abusive relationship may wish to pass on… Thank you for sharing – the figures speak for themselves – far too many women are trapped in relationships that put them at risk.
