Letorian Descendants, Jodi Ann Fahey

Over 400 years ago, King Davalian, The Letorian King, protected the covens from the Pandions and townspeople during the days of the black plague and the witch hunts. Two very gifted sorcerers were part of his army and fought alongside him. One was a woman named Lily who not only helped him to victory, but won his heart. Lily was not at all interested in King Davalian. Her love was Connell, the other gifted sorcerer.

During King Davalian’s rein, Lily discovered the secret to eternal life through a series of Talismans, a reborn vampire capable of having the powers of a vampire but the gift of age, death, and reborn back into the same family line. Lily first changed herself, Connell was to be next and they were to live out their lives, each generation, with each other. Except, that night, things went terribly wrong and even though both had been blessed with eternal life their bond was never completed. Instead, in a jealous rage, King Davalian cursed Connell and forced him to a life being controlled by the moon and to never forget his wrong.

Connell was forced into a wolf and ran with the Pandions. Shortly after King Davalian was slayed and Lily became their Queen. King Davalian did leave her with one last gift, the devastating prophesy of her great granddaughter lingered over her and her descendants. Her great granddaughter would be slaughtered by the King to the Pandions; the talismans Lily created were to be found and they would be the demise to the Letorian Coven. The Pandions were destined to be the new ruling coven and destroy everything in its way to get there.

The series begins with Lily’s great granddaughter, Casey Blane, a young girl of 16 who had constantly been made to move. She thought trying to fit in was her biggest problem. The Letorians thought it wise to keep her and her life hidden until the Pandions find her and what was prophesied begins to become a reality. What happens next will change her life forever.

Letorian Descendants is a novel that I could not put down! Seriously book lovers, this novel is incredible. If you know anything about me by now then you will know that I adore anything to do with the occult and I especially love reading about witches. This comes from the fact that I have red hair and I have always been fascinated why women throughout the centuries were persecuted and branded witches for having red hair. My point is I adore dark fantasy stories such as this one. As a side note if you want to read about a book solely about witches then read my review of The Witchfinder’s Sister! Now, onto my review of this incredible, thrilling, dramatic story.

As you can see at the top of my review there is a very long synopsis of this novel wrote by the author. She actually has two different synopsis for this novel but I decided to post this one so that you readers can get some background knowledge into this novel and how I can tell you a little bit more about the present in the novel. Our novel follows Casey and Casey has been hidden by the Letorians ever since birth to avoid the Pandions although they soon find her and chaos ensues. Casey who is an unsuspecting young woman, is forced and thrown into an action packed world full of vampires, werewolves and all things mystical. We then follow Casey on her journey of self-discovery as she learns and perfects the great powers she possess and we then follow her as she unlocks centuries old mysteries of her family’s royal past in order to save herself, and her coven as the next Letorian descendant.

In my opinion this novels story is incredible! Seriously, just thinking about the masterpiece that lies between these pages makes my heart race. This story truly is amazing and this is down to our authors exceptional writing, thinking and the wonderful characters she has created. Casey, our main character is simply perfect in my eyes. Casey is a young woman who is branded as a freak by those around her; Casey has had a hard life and she has experienced this from a very young age because of her father and his murderous outbursts and also the bullies at her school. However she conquers this and becomes the women she is destined to be and it was really lovely to be so invested in a character and to want them to succeed.

Jodi Ann Fahey’s writing is superb and it delivers a beautiful and poignant message. Her action scenes were exciting as well as thrilling and her descriptions of them as well as many other things in the novel were mesmerising. I love descriptive writing so this was such a treat for me.

To summarise my thoughts on this enchanting novel I would say if you are looking to read a book that will hook and grasp you from the very first page and a novel that is full of mystical things galore then you will adore this! This enchanting novel gets Four Stars from me!
