Adam’s Journal, E.C. Flickinger

Adam's JournalSometimes life breaks our hearts. We’d rather hide our true selves in very dark places and never let anyone close enough to shine light and discover our broken souls.

Adam, an introverted boy, trips over himself whenever he’s in the presence of a potential mate. He spends his days waiting for opportunity to greet him, and when she’s finally there, Adam resists living in the moment. If Adam does connect physically, the sensation overwhelms him and he’s pulled back inside himself—he ends up losing the girl.

Adam exercises as a coping mechanism and eventually becomes stronger and more self-confident which attracts attention—from women—and the cycle starts all over again.

Adam is a good friend, but he could be fighting a battle for your glory right now and you’d never know it—he often doesn’t even think to share the really important details; it happens.

Topics of friends, fate, affection, trust, self-confidence, competition, bananas, defeat, patience, and finally capturing a life’s dream are all themes.

Adam eventually finds love and companionship, but in a twist of fate, he must find a way to win her back. Sometimes you just have to wait for the thing you want most.

Adam’s Journal is a beautiful, poignant story that is emotive and stunningly well-written. This novel has captivated me, I adore reading these kind of novels and believe character studies are beautiful and important and this novel certainly is. I believe it is an important read for anybody, especially that of young people as it takes the reader on a journey from childhood to adulthood. Here is a little bit more about this enchanting novel.

Adam’s Journal focuses on the story of Adam and his life. It follows Adam- who is very much so introverted-from childhood to adulthood. It is a beautiful character study full of beautiful, poetic moments that will make you fall in love with the purity of life and growing up. This is the essence of Adam’s Journal and there is not much else I can really say about its synopsis other than that it is incredibly beautiful!

This novel is an insightful account of what it is to grow up in the world today, especially what it is like to grow up as an introverted boy. In my opinion this is an important novel and one day I would love for my boys to read this novel as it address many important issues such as confidence, affection, trust and so much more.

Not only is this novel poignant it is also a fun, humorous read that will have you giggling to yourself with its quirky humour. It will also make you think deeply about your own childhood and how it was when you grew up. It made me reflect on my childhood and early adult years and I have to say I adored this because this is what literature is supposed to do… it is supposed to challenge your thoughts and make you think about your own self and your past.

Our author E.C. Flickinger is quite the literacy hero. His words are full of so much beauty and I adored how he included snippets of poetry throughout his incredible novel. He has wrote such an incredible book that is truly enjoyable to read. His character development of Adam was perfect and as I read the novel I found myself becoming more and more attached to him and his life. I desperately wanted to know what would happen next to Adam and how his life would turn out. It was so pleasant to read a novel where I could not even guess where it was going and I adored how upon finishing it that the novel was once not predictable and this is all thanks to Flickinger’s incredible literary work.

To summarise my thoughts on this wonderful novel I would say if you are looking for an engaging read which is impossible to put down… a read that is funny and full of laugh out loud moments as well as many thoughtful and heart warming ones then this is definitely the novel for you!
